DUAL PURPOSE AND DIRT BIKES: RIDER ORIENTATION COURSE & "experience"


Introduction

Riders want to go on bike adventures, these do not have to be long tour orientated experiences.  It needs to cover various types of terrains and "stretch" the comfort levels of the riders without being a survival exercise.

The Rider Orientation combined with the weekend experience provide the Rider with such an opportunity.  The Rider Orientation is a two hour skill confirmation and orientation course before the offroad adventure commences.

It is presented as part of:

   a)   Dual Purpose and/or Offroad Adventure experiences.

   b)   Newbie outrides.

Outline

This is included in adventure experiences and/or as part of Newbie Outrides.  It is a quick two hour course that serves as basis for the planned ride-out.

 

It is primarily presented through individually advertised events and does not form part of the normal training calendar.  It can also be poresented as part of tour operator packages that brings in tourists.  It includes the following aspects:

  • Rider and motorcycle.
  • Effective primary control usage.
  • Emergency stop. 
  • Body weight distribution. 
  • Skills challenge for teams
  • Skills challenge for individuals

It can also include the following: 

  • Localisation orientation for foreign tourists.
  • Group riding skills and practices.

Duration

As per schedule, normally 08:00 for 08:30 till 10:30 

Target audience

Riders with some dual purpose or dirt bike riding experience.

Pre-requisites

The following is required:

  • Having booked for the ride experience.
